An animated (adult) half-hour sitcom.
Imagine an animated comedy series where two at-each-other’s-throats, modern-day siblings are sent back in time to an ancient Egyptian-like civilization.
The show, ‘Leopetra’, is about Rose Green and Nigel Green trying to adapt to this new world while searching for a way home. Amidst their sibling rivalries, they make friends with a family of natives: Moki, Seti, and Dina.
In this fictional civilization, mythical creatures are as common and as civilized as humans and magic more prevalent than science. Welcome to Leopetra!
Rose and Nigel are two modern-day siblings from 2030. They find a magical artifact in a museum that sends them back 5,000 years to Leopetra (3,000 BCE).
Leopetra is a fictional civilization in Middle Egypt, inhabited by roughly 10,000 humans and mythical creatures. Picture a fruitful ancient civilization along the Nile River with fauna, flowing streams, agriculture and animal life.
Mythical creatures are as common as humans in Leopetra. Including anthropomorphic cats, people with bird heads, wings, reptile heads, or tails.
Rose (17) is indisputably the most unpopular kid in school which causes her to vigorously change who she is to find a place to fit in.
Rose loves ancient mythology and archaeology (hence the hat) and is driven by curiosity and a lust for adventure. This is both her biggest strength and her biggest weakness. Her curiosity fosters her brilliant intelligence but also puts her in hilarious predicaments – whether it be eavesdropping, exploring an abandoned tomb, or checking out the scary noise from the attic.
On a family trip to the museum, Rose and her brother, Nigel, find a magical artifact that sends them back in time to a mythically ancient civilization – Leopetra.
Already terrible at fitting in, Rose is truly a fish-out-of-water in Leopetra and must make friends with the odd natives, and learn how to adapt, until she finds a way home or risk being stuck forever.
When Rose was a little girl, her parents gave her a book about Leopetra (a place everyone thought was pure make-believe). Rose carries this book everywhere and luckily has it with her in Leopetra as a guide to the extreme wackiness.
Rose is totally clueless on proper social behavior. She can come off as arrogant and preachy. If she ever wants to make friends and find where she fits in, she must learn to not judge the less intelligent and instead use her own brains to help others.

Unlike his sister, Rose, Nigel (14) is popular in school. He’s also really funny. But a troublemaker too.
Nigel is desperate for attention and will go beyond limits to get a laugh out of you. He resents the thought of living an ordinary and boring life. Whatever he does, he must do “extra”. He needs to realize, however, that the same antics that make people laugh, can also just as easily make people uncomfortable when he goes too far.
Nigel is absolutely addicted to testing limits and seeing how far he can go with something. It’s no surprise that he gets in trouble with authority figures – whom he hates (and vice versa) – a lot. Teachers, security personnel at Disney World, etc.
Nigel sees the world as his own personal playground and with a lot of new “toys” at his disposal in Leopetra, he’s sure to get into lots of mishaps.
Nigel does miss home, though. He especially misses playing video games with his friends. He therefore actively tries to bring modern life to Leopetra – whether it be introducing stand-up comedy, the term ‘we lit’, or the concept of likes and followers.
It goes without saying, but Nigel always tries to do the bare minimum. If he’s forced to do something hard, he will do everything in his might to get around it. It’s actually quite impressive how much effort he puts into dodging hard work. More effort than the hard task itself would require. Ironic, huh?

Moki (8) is a native of Leopetra, lives with his grandparents, Seti and Dina, and is constantly exposed to their marital problems.
Moki wants more than anything in the world to grow up to be a courageous hero. Moki is a scrawny kid who isn’t taken seriously by many and mocked by the bigger kids his own age. His weak arms can barely lift a sword or pull back a bow. Not exactly hero material. Seti, being an optimist, encourages Moki to be the best hero he can be. Dina, being a pessimist, tells Moki to stop dreaming. He’ll just end up being disappointed.
Moki wants to help people. He has a heart of gold and his young innocence makes him see good in everyone. Even in Joseph Stalin. Not that the two would ever meet with the… You know… Time difference and everything. I’m just saying that if Joseph Stalin was alive then, Moki would find something good in him.
Moki is the most rule-abiding of the ensemble cast by far… When he’s on his own. However, he’s very impressionable and almost anybody can talk him into breaking the rules, though he may not ultimately like it.
Moki is thrilled to have Rose and Nigel live with him. He views Nigel as the big brother he always wished he had. Poor impressionable Moki doesn’t realize that Nigel probably isn’t a great role model. And Nigel isn’t exactly above utilizing Moki to do his bidding.
Moki has had a hopeless crush on the much older Rose from the first time he saw her. Even more motivation for him to become strong and courageous.

Seti (60s) wants to be a great and respected magician but is mediocre at best. He spends most of his time practicing magic in his garage.
His wife, Dina, is sick and tired of Seti’s dedication to his magical practices and wishes Seti would dedicate more time to their marriage. Seti and Dina are the classic old married couple who always nag at each other.
Despite his flaws, Seti is a kind-spirited and hospitable man. He has offered Rose and Nigel a
place to live in his barn, in return for manual labor on his farm, until they find a way home.
Seti serves as the mentor for his grandson and the Green siblings (whom he also comes to view as family as the show progresses). Though his advice isn’t always terrific, his intentions are pure.

Dina (60s) wants above all else to feel attractive again. She yearns the days when her husband would pay more attention to her.
Dina spites everyone who makes her feel old and unattractive. Hence, she really dislikes Rose for her youth and beauty. She’s demeaning to her and nags her constantly.
Because Dina can’t have what she wants, she will make others feel like they shouldn’t chase their desires either. More notably, she’ll talk Moki out of trying to become a hero, because “he’ll just end up being disappointed in the end”.
Picture yourself in the middle of a room, Seti in one corner, encouraging you to go on, Dina in the other corner, telling you to give up.

King Leo (20s) is an anthropomorphic leopard and the cocky king of Leopetra (his ancestors founded the civilization).
King Leo may have authority, but no one takes him seriously. Don’t feel bad for him. Everything rolls off his back. He’s not at all socially aware. In other words, he’s f*cking dumb.
King Leo is a great comedic relief and may appear out of nowhere at the most random times (often when things get serious) to give us a good ole chuckle.
